Utne Institute

The Utne Institute, incorporated in 2004, convenes and promotes projects support the common good. The Institute's mission is to strengthen bonds of connection and compassion in our communities, to introduce promising ideas to our society as a whole, and to amplify the message of independent voices in our media. Let's Talk America is a pilot project of the Utne Institute and follows in the tradition of Utne Magazine, which in 1991 launched the Neighborhood Salon Association. Café Utne, the Webby Award-winning online community now operated by the Utne Institute, has carried on the salon tradition through online dialogue since 1995.
